Join Foundations in Genesis Idaho on an adventure around Hagerman, Idaho! We will be making three separate stops to look at amazing features found in this unique section of Idaho!
Meetup Details
When: 10:00 am
We will gather at the Love’s Gas Stop and then travel caravan-style to our 3 adventure locations around this area of Idaho!
We are leaving for our first stop by 10:30 am.
I will make rivers flow on barren heights,
and springs within the valleys.
I will turn the desert into pools of water,
and the parched ground into springs.

1st Stop: Box Canyon State Park
See this beautiful and immense canyon carved by incredible forces of water. See where the tough basalt was scraped nearly a mile from the Snake River and suddenly ended. What could have done this canyon carving? While it looks like an empty waterfall today, we can still see the beautiful spring running from the thick basalt into the pool below.
2nd Stop: Lemmon Falls (Ritter Island State Park)
Check out the beautiful waterfall emerging from the canyon walls! Learn about where this water comes from, and how it is an oasis in our desert. Enjoy a picnic lunch as we see the beautiful provision and how God provides for us even in a fallen world. Learn a little history about this special island for Idaho and how it’s used today!
3rd Stop: Snake River Overlook Trail (Hagerman Fossil Beds)
Look at the many fossil-bearing sediment layers and learn about what variety of animals have been discovered (like mastodon) and how they ended up here. We will also learn about the Oregon Trail History right by the fossil beds!
What to Bring
Please bring the following items if you have them!
- Binoculars (great birdwatching — also helpful for viewing the fossil beds!)
- Good Shoes for off-road
- Water
- Sack Lunch
- Warm clothing for cold weather
- Rain jacket and/or umbrella in case of light rain and waterfall splash
A donation of $5 per person is recommended, or a maximum of $15 per family.
