About Jay
Jay is the Founder and Managing Director of the Starting Point Project. The primary focus of the Starting Point Project is strengthening of the Christian’s faith, so they are more confident and better positioned to share their faith and mentor their own children. He holds degrees in both physics and engineering technology. Jay is the President of Logos Research Associates, the world’s largest group of scientists who are Christians and biblical creationists. He is also a speaker for the Creation Science Association of Fiji. Jay has been married to his beautiful wife Amy for 32 years, has two adult, married children, and has been speaking on the Authority of Scripture for 40 years.

Topic Descriptions
Creation vs. Evolution: The Case from Science
Many topics seem automatically associated with evolution and are almost always seen as strong evidence for evolution. A few examples would be the Big Bang, ape-men, dinosaurs, and Carbon- 14 dating, just to name a few. This presentation gives a quick overview of these topics and a few others, clearly demonstrating a close examination reveals the accuracy and trustworthiness of the Genesis creation account!
Evangelism: By the Book
If we are to effectively evangelize and encourage others to consider the existence of God and the trustworthiness of His Word, we need to “know our audience” very well. The best way to accomplish this is not so much in doing our own evaluation and analysis, but to see what God Himself tells us about them. If we don’t have a proper biblical understanding of where they are coming from, we will not be as effective as we could be when attempting to share the Gospel message. This encouraging presentation helps Christians be better prepared to share their faith with atheists, skeptics and seekers and not be so surprised or frustrated with their responses.
Evolution: Probable or Problematic?
Certain aspects of evolution occasionally seem fairly plausible. It doesn’t take much imagination to envision fish slowly turning into amphibians, with their fins gradually being transformed into legs and moving up onto land. However, when we take a closer look at what actually has to go on inside (in the DNA) we see a very different picture. It’s like looking under the hood of a beautiful sports car only to find that its engine is completely missing! Presenting some incredibly fascinating information about DNA, this presentation clearly demonstrates (in layman’s terms) that molecules-to-man evolution is virtually impossible.
Surprise: The Bible Explains That!
Fairly often secular scientists discover things that are very confusing to them and hard to make sense of, particularly given their naturalistic worldview. However, the Bible explains very well what was so perplexing to the secularist and these discoveries fit very naturally within the Christian worldview. Far from being an outdated, unscientific, antiquated religious book, the Bible serves as a tremendous framework we can use to make sense of the world around us. This presentation reviews eight examples of these relatively recent discoveries and strengthens the Christian’s faith in the inspiration and reliability of God’s Word.
The Myth of Settled Science
“The time for debate is over… it’s been settled. It’s time now for action!” We hear this fairly often and it can be very intimidating. Do we just need to willingly comply with whatever marching orders we’re given by the “scientific magisterium”? Is science ever settled? This talk conveys some very important principles about science and powerfully helps Christians respond whenever they hear, “The science is settled!”
Who Am I?
Who we are determines what we do and who we are is 100% driven by where we think we came from… i.e., our origins. The world’s answer to this question sits in stark contrast to what we find in Scripture. This presentation not only highlights who we are in God’s eyes, being created in His image, but also shares some fascinating details from science that powerfully confirm the accuracy of the biblical narrative… we are “fearfully and wonderfully made”!
