We will gather at the gas station and then travel caravan-style to our crater adventure location in this area of Idaho! 

The Destination: Crater Rings 

We will travel and walk to look from between the rims of these two LARGE and unique craters and discuss the incredible power and forces required to leave such deep craters in our deserts. We will discuss events in the Bible referring to the powerful activity. Did a meteor hit here? 

We will then hike down into one of the craters to get a closer look and to experience the massive scale of these volcanic lakes.

Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the crater and learn how the recent and catastrophic flood and post-flooding volcanic events helped to shape this large site as a testament to the recent events listed in the Bible.

What to Bring

Please bring the following items if you have them:

• Plenty of Water
• Sack Lunch
• Clothing for changing weather
• Sun protection (hats, sunglasses)
• Sturdy shoes for lava rock
• Possibly gloves for rock scramble

This trip is considered a half-day field trip. You may leave the site at your leisure. We will provide some ideas on the handout for further exploration in the area.

*AWD and High-clearance vehicles recommended for this trip as the sites are remote and require travel on dirt roads and a volcanic field. The hike into/out of  the crater will require strenuous activity and the ability to hike over lava rocks.

A suggested donation of $5 per person is recommended, or a maximum of $20 per family.
