Join Foundations in Genesis Idaho on an adventure just across the Oregon border outside of Homedale in the Graveyard Point area on BLM land. We will doing some rock hounding and surface collect agate, chalcedony, and maybe petrified wood! We will also learn how the biblical flood event ties into our volcanic fields and how agates and other rocks are formed.

When: 9:00am
Leave for Graveyard Point by 9:15 am.
Where:

We will gather at the gas station and then travel caravan-style about 21 minutes to our rockhounding location across the border into Oregon. After gathering and a brief talk, we’ll search the large area for various agates. All vehicles can handle the short dirt roads. We are expecting to be done by 12:00pm.

The BLM land where we will be collecting is accessed by a dirt road that runs between private property. Please stay on the access road and follow the caravan in to the BLM land. There are also mining claims near where we will be collecting, so please stay to the north of the markers if you explore on your own. Be aware of posted signs and do not collect in an area if unsure. We will direct you to open areas for collecting.
This site has some areas with rough terrain and some canyons. Be aware and watch with small children. As it’s a desert location, be aware of rattlesnakes and other desert critters. There are no bathroom facilities, so please follow “leave no trace” policies as this is a popular dig site.

What to Bring
Please bring the following items if you have them:
- Water
- Sack Lunch (if you want to stay and explore after the trip)
- Warm clothing (layers)
- Sun protection
- Close-toed shoes and long pants
- Work gloves
- Small trowel or pick
- Bucket or bags
A donation of $5 per person is recommended, or a maximum of $20 per family.
